Facebook announces "Reactions"

After years of people wanting a dislike button, Facebook announces reactions. They are emoji based alternatives to like. So now when you go to press like, it gives you the additional options of like, love, haha, wow, sad and angry.  This is a far more nuanced approach to the like system.  Love is already the one most used, not surprising. But this new system will let people express more of their actual reaction to a post than just the simple like button.  It has the potential to allow you to communicate better with your followers than a like or comment.

It has been rolled out on both pages and profiles, so you can use it anywhere. Pages are able to have a reaction on other page posts too. So this is not a feature that is exclusive to profiles, for once!

Getting engagement is always a challenge on Facebook. There are so many factors that limit engagement rates.  This is the first big move in a long time that may help improve engagement rates.

This new addition could also increase engagement, especially for negative posts such as, "my car broke down." People don't want to like that, and may not want to comment. So they will just do nothing. The ability to emote through reactions will encourage more potential engagements.

Tip...you can love your own content so when people see it they will see that it already has love.
