Is There Any Plans to Provide Better Affiliate Promotional Tools?

Now that I've launched my site, I'm trying to focus my efforts on  recruiting affiliates.

I've received literally 5 or 6 messages from different affiliates stating that they LOVE modelcentro as a company, but the affiliate part is still very much lacking.

All of their concerns are around the fact that we aren't able to provide them with hosted video preview content for my sites updates and hosted banner galleries.

When I suggested uploading my videos to dropbox, as modelcentro's support advised me to do, one of my niches biggest traffic generators for affiliates, mansurfer dot com, went so far as tell me this:

"Drop box is pretty useless as a tool for affiliates. PornHub isn't much better but at least with PornHub I could capture a thumbnail and you at least provided a title to go along with the video..

With DropBox I get nothing but the video.. No thumbnail or Title. Most affiliates are going to be looking for the following if you really want them to push your site.

title, descriptive text, model names, images and decent length good quality video.

Without that you're going to find it hard to get affiliates excited about promoting you as I'm sure you're finding out. We don't like hunting and going to different places to bundle up all of your promo tools."

I can only do so much for traffic on my end. I've done a pretty good job, but I planned and counted on affiliates to provide 20-30% of my traffic/sales. If I can't get them excited about my program, ALL of us are losing out on sales.

Any suggestions?

  • From an SEO prospective, webmasters should generate their own titles and descriptions to avoid duplicate content issues.

Outside of that, I can see where they're coming from. MC did just release a new feature allowing models / studios to provide promotional content directly through the dashboard. Haven't personally checked it out yet.

Really, this is an issue for all camming / amateur affiliate programs. Look at pretty much every camming site and you won't find any videos or FHGs for promotion.

From what I've seen, most the sites promoting MC affiliate programs are directory / review sites.

  • The zipped package promo tool on the dashboard only lets you package pictures from your published photosets. You can't actually upload promotional content.

Alison in support also suggested that I add my promotional banners and such into a published photset on my site and then add it as a zipped package, which doesn't seem like a great idea.

  • Hey there, yes you can just upload a zipped package with just promo banners.

Default banner sizes for both desktop and mobile(most used ones):

    728x90 - 300x250 - 160x600 - 300x600.

  • @Nasty Black Boys, as far as I'm aware, you don't have to publish the photos to be able to create a zipped package out of them, but I'll have to double check, are you sure it'd be ok @Guido? It's logical that they don't want the users of the website to see the banners.

  • that's correct @Natalie. Photos, or banners in this case, don't have to be published to create a zipped package.

  • woot awesome news @guido :) I know that there's also a separate banner project in the works that will make things even easier.

  • @NastyBlackBoys @Natalie ;I have to rectify my last statements. It's not possible to upload unpublished content in zipped packages... My apologies for the confusion kiss

However, yes we have a banner project in the works....

  • @Natalie @Guido I did try and add a zipped package of promo banners from an unpublished photoset and it didn't allow it

  • Nasty Black Boys, you are only able to add photos from published photosets to zipped packages
