Email Marketing

Any models doing email marketing? What platforms are you using? MC have any plans for email marketing outside of the opt-in form and list exporter?

All of my 1st picks don't accept clients in the adult industry.....

  • I have yet to find one that allows for adult stuff :( I know some people just ignore the rules and make their emails as PG as possible, but idk

  • I know that YNOT has an adult-friendly email marketing platform. It's not nearly as feature-rich as I'd like, last time I reviewed it and seemed pricy.

Hey, reviewing it again, they say they have "Automated triggers". I wonder if that means that they actually offer drip-campaigns now.

  • I have a site with WordPress installed on it and use the http://www.mailpoet.com/ plugin (free version). I don't have many people on my email list, and I don't send emails very frequently, so I am not too worried about my domain name being marked as spam.

MailPoet interfaces with https://sendgrid.com/partner/wordpress - which also has a free version. Sendgrid, when I looked at their TOS, allows adult sites but NO graphical photos to be sent through their server.

When I send newsletters, I almost always make $$ (composing my holiday email as I write this).

  • Is it sending it through your servers or Sendgrids? You have any idea what the monthly send volume is? You have any trouble with deliverability / inbox placement due to spammy keywords? (all adult / porn keywords are generally spammy by default)

  • Oops- just now saw this! I have a VPS for my mainstream website design business, so my server can within the TOS send emails (I have it set to send only about 60/hour, and my email list is about 500). I do not currently use sendgrid as my mailing list mailserver.

I think on sendgrid, they have the volume limits in their TOS or FAQ - it's been a while since I looked.

I don't have a problem with my newsletters being marked as spam, because I don't include adult keywords in them (furs, pedal pumping, beach balls, etc are normal enough). My email list is also only of guys who have signed up through one of my websites, so tend to be the most motivated fans who are looking for it.

If you sign up for my newsletter on new.furpassion.com or http://KaitlinK.com - I'll be sending a holiday newsletter out in the next day or 2... and you can see how it looks and feels on the user end.

  • Just noticed that Madrill (a MailChimp product) is being used by MyGirlFund. Maybe I'll start reverse-engineering all the different adult sites.

Amazon SES allows for adult content as well. I'm almost tempted to see if I can't find some cheap coding over there in Pakistan and develope an adult-friendly email marketing platform that actually supports drip-campaigns.

Would there be any interest if I actually pursued this?

  • I have also been using mailpoet. It does what I need but I'd love to see newsletters as a feature itself within ModelCentro!

  • Which, really, I'm going to assume that WordPress is MC's biggest competition. Hell, if there were membership area plugins that worked with Paxum or CCBill, WordPress would be MAJOR competition. Having a policy of; "Anything WordPress can do, we can do better!" would be a great approach for ordering rollouts of new feature.

From the answers I've seen, seems like with the lack of adult-friendly ESPs, WordPress plugins are the method of choice.
